I embarked upon this journey, my first ever reading of author Annie Dillard, with her look to The Chase. Ms Dillards brilliantly chosen words danced, a dazzling, rapid levitate of moving pictures in my mind, which allowed me to feel, as the children in her story, my own cramping lungs from gasping deeply breaths of freezing air, my own feet wet and numb from the, seemingly, never shut running, in the ever melting snow. I felt my eyes, glazed, ken hazy, with frozen tears and so many other aspects of the corporate trial imposed upon the characters in this story. Most importa ntly though, amidst all of this snow and fre! ezing cold, The Chase caused me to feel heat, furious sputtering or flight heat, like sweat steam gather from hot blood coursing through compact goad limbs pumping in the frozen air, this paralleled with the heat of my own mind, on fire, with the inspiration of it all.
